This is a blog to document my journey through the Bay Area's charitable landscape. Each week I will be featuring a new nonprofit and its underpinning mission. Through research, interviews, and hands-on experience, I aim to pull back the curtain on positive change.
Scattered between weekly nonprofit features, I will be posting my thoughts and reflections on the philanthropic world. Some posts will be practical and others philosophical. Some long and some short. At the end of the day, this is an open ended journey. I'm 100% excited, but not 100% sure where it will lead.
Though I'm inviting the world along for the ride, it's worth noting that this is deeply personal. I've long been driven by the desire to make a positive impact, but have been at a complete loss for where to start. In Lieu Of is my starting place. It is me channeling my energy and my thirst for knowledge into meaningful impact. I hope that ILO marks a meaningful stop on your journey, as well.
Cheers to what is sure to be an adventure!
PS - Weekly nonprofit features will directly correlate with ILO Fund donations. Each week, ILO members go In Lieu Of coffee and give $5 to the featured charity. It's Bay Area karma on autopilot and collective action at its finest. For every 1000 donors, we are able to donate over $200,000 to charities per year. If you are interested in joining, click here.
